Event Description
The second annual Parks, Rivers, Trails & Trees is a city-wide stewardship day and community celebration, and a great way for individuals and families to care for and celebrate our shared public outdoor spaces.
Presented by the Denver Park Trust, in partnership with leading conservation nonprofits,
neighborhood organizations, and residents, Parks, Rivers, Trails & Trees will feature a city-wide volunteer park cleanup day at 12 parks across the city, including City Park, followed by a
community celebration at City Park Pavilion.
Each organization will host a park cleanup event for neighbors, friends, families, and all who
care about parks, open space, and the public realm. A community celebration will follow at the
City Park Pavilion featuring food, music, fun and games, and more!

Construction Updates on City Park’s New Nature Play Project
/0 CommentsConstruction staging for the 4-acre, $7.9 million nature play and waterway project in City Park is underway!
Located just outside the southwest corner of the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, the project will:
- restore a historic water way,
- introduce native plantings,
- feature animal sculptures to play on (including a 20-foot-tall Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep),
- include other climbing features, swings, slides, etc.
Project completion is expected in late 2024. For more information on the project click here
What’s happening now?
Fencing has started to be installed and trailers/equipment have begun arriving to get the site set up for construction. This preparation stage will likely take over a month.
In March, we will start to see banners installed along the fencing, with more project information and directions for alternative pedestrian pathways.

2022 Adopt-A-Flowerbed Volunteers helped make City Park more beautiful!
City Park’s 2022 Adopt-a-Flowerbed Program was a huge success!
From May through October, volunteers generously gave their time and energy to help Parks staff beautify the park — weeding, pruning, fertilizing, and mulching the park’s many garden beds.
Thanks to the many program participants whose efforts make the park a more beautiful place for us all to enjoy.
Interested in helping to keep City Park blooming next spring?
Volunteer participation is flexible and a weekly calendar of gardening events will help you set your own schedule, working on your own or as part of a team. You can also participate in occasional large group projects. No prior experience is necessary.
Contact Georgia Garnsey (ggarnsey@ecentral.com), Maria Flora (mjflora@msn.com) or Patty Cordova (pcordova58@msn.com) for more details on becoming a volunteer.
