Sports/Activities

Sports Fields/Courts

City Park offers a wide range of sports facilities that make it one of Denver’s most active recreation hubs. The park features multiple open fields used for soccer, softball, and casual pick-up games, along with large grassy areas that are perfect for frisbee, flag football, or group fitness activities. These flexible spaces are frequently used by local leagues, community events, and informal gatherings of athletes enjoying the park’s expansive setting.

The park also includes several dedicated courts and recreational areas for year-round activity. Visitors can find basketball courts, tennis courts, and multi-use spaces where people gather for everything from casual shootarounds to organized matches. With scenic views, wide paths for warmups, and nearby amenities, City Park’s sports facilities create an energetic environment for both competitive play and everyday recreation.

Swan Boats/Bike Rentals

Visitors to City Park can enjoy a relaxing ride on the charming City Park Swan Boats, pedal-powered boats shaped like elegant swans. Available on Ferril Lake, these boats offer a fun and peaceful way to explore the water while taking in views of the park, downtown skyline, and surrounding greenery.

In addition, visitors to City Park can easily rent bikes to explore its wide paths, scenic lakes, and open green spaces. Bike rentals are available through the Lyft Bikes system (Denver’s bikeshare), with stations near popular areas like Ferril Lake and the Denver Museum of Nature & Science, making it simple to cruise through one of Denver’s most iconic parks.

Walking/Running

City Park offers excellent opportunities for walking and running, with wide paths circling lakes, open lawns, and scenic views of downtown Denver and the Rocky Mountains. A highlight is the Mile High Loop, a marked one-mile track popular with runners, walkers, and fitness groups looking for a consistent, easy-to-follow route through the park.

Golf

Denver City Park Golf Course is an 18-hole public course offering panoramic views of downtown Denver and the Rocky Mountains. Redesigned in 2020, it features rolling fairways, modern practice facilities, and a clubhouse, making it one of the city’s premier municipal golf experiences.
