Denver Zoo Conservation Alliance

The Denver Zoo Conservation Alliance is an 80-acre zoological garden located in Denver’s City Park, close to downtown Denver. Founded in 1896, the zoo is owned by the City and County of Denver and is home to approximately 3,000 animals and over 500 different species. This includes large exhibits for bears, primates, felines, elephants, and reptiles. It also includes a carousel and railroad for kids, an animal hospital, and an amphitheater. The zoo also hosts special seasonal events, including “Boo at the Zoo” for Halloween and “Zoo Lights” for the holiday season.

To learn more about the zoo and to get tickets, visit the zoo’s website at https://denverzoo.org.

Denver Museum of Nature and Science

The Denver Museum of Nature and Science (DMNS) has been a part of City Park almost from the park’s beginning. Still sitting in its birthplace on the eastern edge of the park, DMNS has grown with Denver and modern technology. From early collections of minerals and fauna to the Mars Rover exhibit, the museum has provided education and entertainment to millions of citizens and visitors. Up next is an expansion of educational activities into the outdoors. The museum has plans for an underutilized area of the park for an installation called “Nature Play”.

For further information on DMNS, including current information on exhibits and admission, please visit https://www.dmns.org/.

City Park Golf Course

The City Park Golf Course is a solid foundation in Denver’s recreational history of golf. In 1913 Tom Bendelow designed the first City Park Golf Course. The new course, which was designed by Todd Schroeder in 2019 and reviewed by Hale Irwin, will open to the public September 1st 2020. Let’s not forget Herman “Chubbs” Harden, Junior Golf Director, one of many in the City Park community who provided a lasting impact to the game of golf. Regardless of its transitional growth, the patrons stand fast in support of the entire relationship it has with the community of City Park. From the beginning, the City of Denver has taken precedence in providing opportunities for surrounding neighborhoods to enjoy the game of golf. The City Park Alliance will continue to provide enriched awareness of potential possibilities to enhance the City Park Alliance’s relationship with the world of golf.
